About Save My Dates
Save My Dates exists because the hard part of giving a good gift is almost never the shopping. It is remembering early enough that shopping is still a choice rather than a scramble.
The site is two things that work together. The first is a plain reminder service: you save a date, a birthday, an anniversary, the day you keep for someone who died, and about a month before it comes around, we send you one short email. There is no app, no account to manage, and no feed. Most people who use it hear from us once or twice a year per date, which is the whole idea.
The second is a set of gift selections. They are written one occasion and one person at a time, and they leave the reasoning in, because the reason a gift fits is the part that actually helps you decide. Where we make something ourselves that genuinely fits a page, we say so plainly and it sits alongside everything else rather than at the top by default.
How we pay for it
Two ways, both stated on the pages themselves. Some of the things we recommend are made and sold by us, and a page says so wherever that is the case. Most other picks link to a search on Amazon, where we take part in the Amazon Associates program: if you buy after following one of those links we earn a small commission and you pay no more than you otherwise would. Every page carrying such a link says so above the first one.
What that does not change is which things are on a list, or the order they appear in. Plenty of our best recommendations earn us nothing at all, because the right answer is often a service, an experience, an hour of your time or simply money, and we would rather say that than sell you an object. Nothing here is ranked by what it pays.
One more thing worth being clear about: the photographs on this site are illustrations of the kind of thing described. They are not pictures of a particular product, and we do not photograph or hold stock of anything we recommend.
Who runs it
Save My Dates is run by a small independent company that builds and operates a handful of reference and catalog sites. We publish under the brand rather than under a personal name. If you need to reach a person, write to [email protected] and it reaches the people who run the site.
What we do with your dates
A saved date is an email address, the month and day (we do not ask for the year), what kind of day it is, and optionally a first name. That is the whole record. We do not run third-party analytics, we do not set tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share the list. The privacy policy says this in more detail, and it describes what the site actually does rather than what a template would say.
